Applied Technology, Workforce, and Economic Development
Earn nationally recognized certifications in high-demand careers at Blinn College! The Blinn College District's applied technology, workforce, and economic development programs have been designed in partnership with industry leaders to provide students with the knowledge and skills they need to enter the workforce immediately upon completion. Some of these workforce education courses do not require a high school diploma and enrollment is fast, easy, and can be done remotely. Carpentry
Blinn carpentry students can earn their Associate of Applied Science Degree in Carpentry, NCCER Core Construction and Carpentry Level 1-4 certifications, and Blinn’s Occupational Skills Award and Level 1 and 2 certificates in carpentry.
CDL Trucking
The Truck Driving Program teaches students to conduct pre-trip, on-the-road, and post-trip vehicle and equipment inspections. Other skills include map reading, managing log books and cargo documentation, dispatch procedures, emergency responsibilities, and transportation agency regulations.
Certified Medication Aide and Renewal
Blinn’s Certified Medication Aide Program, designed for Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), covers a wide range of topics required for proper medication administration.
Certified Nurse Aide
The 120-hour program teaches basic caregiving skills, infection control, communication techniques, and safety procedures.
Clinical Medical Assistant
Clinical medical assistants are medical support professionals who perform clinical and administrative duties under the direction of a physician.
Construction Management
At Blinn, students receive hands-on instruction in construction planning and design, scheduling, budgeting, personnel management, quality assurance, and safety. The program follows NCCER curriculum for fundamentals of crew leadership, project supervision, and project management.
Facility Maintenence
Students in the program receive training in entry-level carpentry, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical skills for maintaining commercial and industrial buildings.
Highway Construction
Offered in partnership with the Texas A&M Transportation Institute, our 6-week Heavy Highway Construction Program prepares you for a high-wage, high-demand careers in highway construction.
HVAC
The Blinn College District Facilities HVAC Program offers a variety of awards designed to prepare students for entry-level HVAC positions, including college credit degree plans that place students on the pathway to higher-wage positions in the industry.
Pharmacy Technician
The program consists of three courses, and includes instruction in pharmacology, pharmacy law and regulations, sterile and non-sterile compounding, medication safety, quality assurance, medication order entry and fill processes, inventory management, billing, and information systems.
Phlebotomy Technician
Blinn's Phlebotomy Technician Program provides students with a variety of blood collection methods using proper techniques and precautions.
Welding Technology
Complete the 60-hour Welding Technology AAS degree and you can earn the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) credential, a nationally recognized credential that qualifies students for jobs as structural welders, pipe welders, and maintenance welders.
Scholarships
We understand that paying for college is a significant consideration. While traditional financial aid isn't usually available for non-credit courses, Blinn's Division of Applied Technology, Workforce, and Economic Development offers several scholarship options. From endowed scholarships and the Duddlesten Scholarship to private scholarships and grants, we're here to support you.

To receive a full refund for credit courses, please visit our business office page.
To receive a full refund for non-credit courses, the student must notify the Division of Applied Technology, Workforce, and Economic Development 48 business hours (or 2 business days) before the course start date. Other withdrawals will result in prorated refunds per the following:
- For classes that meet less than four (4) times:
- a 50% refund will be given with less than 48 business hours cancellation
- no refund will be given after the first class
For classes that meet four (4) to eight (8) times:
- an 80% refund will be given before the second class day
- no refund will be given after the second class
For classes that meet more than eight (8) times:
- an 80% refund will be given before the second class
- a 50% refund will be given before the third class
- no refund will be available after the third class
